A’Tylia Green | Basketball | Athlete of the Month for January

Green has been the team leader for the Henderson County Lady Colonels basketball team all season. In her first eight games of January, the Kentucky State commit averaged 16 points per game and just over five rebounds per game, while also playing stellar defense. Green led the Lady Cols in scoring in seven of those eight games, scoring in double digits in seven of them as well. Her biggest game of the month came on January 16 when she scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 53-47 win over Breckinridge County. Green was honored before the January 23 game with Union County for joining the 1,000 point club earlier this season.

Green on her milestone and outstanding month: “It felt pretty good considering I’ve only really been playing varsity since sophomore year. Being able to reach it in those three years felt good. It means a lot to me that I’m being chosen as Athlete of the Month. With my teammates, we’ve really been working on it considering the highs and lows of the season with us being younger and missing players. I want to keep the same pace and still be a leader and make sure our effort is always there.”
