You can vote for him!

Henderson County High School graduate Tyler Brocato is currently competing in Carla Hall’s Favorite Chef Competition, which is a national culinary competition.

His mother, Kelly, messaged the Hendersonian asking for help from the community.

The winner of this competition will win $25,000, will be featured in the “Taste of Homes” magazine and travel to New York to cook with Carla Hall on the Food Network, Kelly said.

Tyler Brocato, a 2023 HCHS graduate, is a culinary student at Sullivan University in Louisville. His mother said he’ll start a double major in Baking and Pastry starting in the fall.

Kelly Brocato said Tyler entered the competition a few months ago. In the first stage, he took first against other competing chefs and advanced into the quarter finals. Kelly said Tyler is probably the youngest chef competing.

He’s currently in fifth place, she said.

“However, we know if Henderson knew about this hometown chef, they would get behind him and get him back into that 1st place spot. How awesome would it be for Henderson (ok…and my kiddo) to be highlighted on the Food Network!”

Here’s how you can help out. Votes can be made here: Tyler Brocato | Favorite Chef presented by Carla Hall

Kelly said people can vote daily for free on Facebook, and/or you can donate your vote for $1 per vote. All donations go to help fund the James Beard Foundation and are tax-deductible.

Voting ends Thursday evening at 9 p.m. CST.
