Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were still searching Thursday morning for a man missing after a boat capsized on the Green River the night before.
Additionally, the man who deputies determined was driving the boat was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with operating a watercraft while intoxicated or under the influence, said Sheriff Chip Stauffer.
Meanwhile, authorities were out on the Green River Thursday morning looking for the man who is still missing, Hasani Carter, 29.
Stauffer said that deputies were out at the Spottsville Boat Ramp along with emergency responders with the Henderson City-County Rescue and the Henderson Fire Department Thursday morning. He said they were using sonar while trying to locate Carter.
Samuel Keene, 19, was charged with the DUI. According to a citation from the sheriff’s office, Keene first told deputies that he hadn’t been drinking.
Deputies then performed field tests, some of which Keene failed, according to the citation. Keene was asked again if he had been drinking to which he responded that he had drunk a couple alcohol seltzer drinks.
After being transported to Henderson County Detention Center, he blew a 0.064 on a breathalyzer, which is below the legal limit, said the citation. But because Keene is younger than 21, the legal limit is 0.002, and he was charged with boating under the influence, said the citation.
The incident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities asked why the boat capsized and were told that it just began to take on water, said the citation.
