Members of the Holloway Hills Homeowner’s Association Tuesday morning asked Henderson County Fiscal Court to help them remove a tree and decorative island from the center of a cul-de-sac in that neighborhood.

Members of the Holloway Hills HOA said the road that wraps around the island is so thin that when a car is parked on the cul-de-sac at the end of Shady Hollow Drive, other vehicles can’t pass on the street and need to drive over the decorative island, which contains a single tree and decorative pebbles.

Also, they said that large delivery trucks can’t make the turn around the island and instead need to back up and turn around at another street.

County Attorney Nick Stallings said that he’d need to do some research to determine who exactly owns the island—the county or the Holloway Hills HOA. He said Shady Hollow Drive is a county-maintained road, but was uncertain of the status of the island.

The Holloway Hills HOA said an estimate they got for the work of removing a tree and paving over the island came to $9,000.

Once the ownership of the island is determined, the Fiscal Court can decide a course of action, County Attorney Steve Gold said.

In other news, the Fiscal Court proclaimed Nov. 28 as Ryan Lin Day in Henderson County. The East Heights Elementary School student was named the judge’s scholar.
