HCHS seniors pursuing a teaching career participate in National Signing Day

Henderson County High School seniors participated Tuesday in the national signing day event supported by Educators Rising, a community-based movement dedicated to cultivating the next generation of teachers from PDK International.

This event celebrates seniors who have made a commitment to pursue degrees in education, said a release from Henderson County Schools.

Educators Rising provides a framework for schools like Henderson County High School to nurture and support aspiring teachers through school chapters, curriculum, and a national conference and competition event, said the release.

Through its partnership with schools like HCHS, Educators Rising offers a clear pathway to increase teacher diversity and quality within the communities using the program when students come back to teach in their home district.

At the event, the following students announced their commitment to post-secondary education with an intent to major in education and to attain a credential to teach.

  • Susy Cruz, Arizona State University

“We are incredibly proud of our seniors who have chosen to pursue degrees in education,” said Mr. J.T. Payne, Principal of Career and Technical Education. “As one of the most high demand professions in Kentucky, they are on their way to a career that will impact future generations. We hope these students will consider bringing their talents and servant hearts back to Henderson County Schools.”

“Educators Rising has done a great job preparing me for college and my future career in education,” said HCHS senior Asher Daily. “I’m so thankful for everything they have done for me.”

“We want to celebrate alongside Henderson County High School the achievement in graduation, and also thank these students in advance for choosing a career path that will have a lasting impact within their community,” said Dr. James Lane, chief executive for PDK International.
