Henderson man arrested in connection to domestic incident

A Henderson man was charged with second-degree burglary, resisting arrest and second-degree disorderly conduct Thursday night.

Henderson Police Department were dispatched at about 10 p.m. to a residence on the 1600 block of South Main Street where they were advised that a woman was yelling “stop” and a man was hitting her.

Police say Raymond Petrie, 39, forced his way into the victim’s residence.

Police, emergency responders and hostage negotiators ordered Petrie to leave the residence and he refused, said a release on HPD’s Facebook page.

After a warrant was obtained, police again ordered Petrie to leave, and he again refused, before authorities entered the residence and arrested him, said the release. During the arrest, Petrie resisted and was injured, said the release.

He was taken to Deaconess Henderson Hospital before being lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center, said the release.

Number of HCC graduates up from last spring

The number of graduates from Henderson Community College increased 38% over last year’s class, said a release from the school.

HCC celebrated its graduation Friday evening with 162 students receiving credentials, said the school.

Those students earned 112 two-year degrees, 134 certificates and 16 diplomas, according to HCC.
