Kate McIndoo Pride, the former director of communications and marketing for Henderson Economic Development, will start a new job Monday with the Kentucky Corn Growers Association.

Pride’s new role is communications director for the statewide association that represents the interests of corn farmers.

Though she loved her time at HED, Pride said her new role is more akin to what she studied at university—she graduated with a degree in agriculture communications—and what she’s passionate about—she’s been around farms and farming her whole life.

She said the new role is “more streamlined with what I’m passionate about.”

Before attending Auburn University, Pride worked at Cates Farm from sixth grade through high school graduation. Additionally, her father, Bob McIndoo, owns and operates Windimere Farms. And Pride said she worked at a greenhouse while at Auburn.

Using her communications degree as well as agriculture knowledge and pedigree “will be like colliding worlds for me,” she said.

She said she’ll work in all forms of media and attend conventions and lobby on behalf of corn farmers in the state.

And one of the best parts of her new role—she’ll work remotely when she’s not traveling.

“I’ll get to stay in Henderson,” she said.

Pride worked at HED for almost two years, she said.
