Hogg named new marketing and communications specialist at HED

Jackson Hogg is the new marketing and communications specialist at Henderson Economic Development.

Hogg will serve as the organization’s leader in communicating with investors, partners and the community through various platforms.

“Joining the HED team and putting my passion for my community to work is going to be a great opportunity,” Hogg said in the release.  “I couldn’t have asked to join a better team of leaders. Henderson has always been home to a unique field of opportunities, and I’m excited to share these stories with others. I’m thankful for the board and staff for extending this opportunity.”

Hogg graduated from Murray State University in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and a minor in Occupational Safety and Health.

During his time in college, he was the Director of External Relations for the Delta Tau chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi, a member of PRSSA, and a volunteer wrestling coach for Henderson County High School.

Hogg, a Henderson native, exhibits a passion for his hometown. He has found various routes for community involvement through coaching, volunteer work and membership in the Rotary Club.

“We’re thrilled to have Jackson join our team,” said Missy Vanderpool, executive director at Henderson Economic Development. “Jackson’s love for Henderson and his talent for connecting with people make him a perfect fit for this role.”

“HED is founded on a strong team all the way from the board to the day-to-day talent.  I am excited to have Jackson Hogg joining an already outstanding team,” said Bob McIndoo, HED board chairman. “His marketing talents, enthusiasm and love of our community will fit right in with the current staff.”

HPD arrests Owensboro man who allegedly drove drunk north on southbound Twin Bridge

The Henderson Police Department arrested an Owensboro man who drove the wrong way on the southbound Twin Bridge early Sunday morning.

According to an HPD release, the incident began at 3:30 a.m. Nov. 17 when officers were called to the 2200 block of US Hwy 41 North for a report of a driver passed out in a brown Buick.

When officers arrived and attempted to contact Dymond Harris, he drove away, moving north toward the Twin Bridges, later crossing into the southbound lanes, said the release.

Harris crossed over the Ohio River traveling in the wrong direction on the southbound bridge, and several cars had to avoid a head-on collision, according to HPD.

An HPD patrol officer was able get ahead of the chase and successfully deploy a Stop Stick tire deflation device, and Harris came to a stop in a ditch near Ellis Park, said HPD.

Harris, who has a previous felony conviction in Warrick County, Ind. and is prohibited from possessing a firearm, was in possession of a handgun when he was arrested, said the release.

He submitted to a chemical breath test which showed he was above the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle, said the release.

Harris was booked into the Henderson County Detention Center on the following charges: Reckless Driving, Fleeing Police, Wanton Endangerment, DUI, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Open Container, No Insurance and No Vehicle Registration.
