The Henderson Chamber of Commerce, along with city and county governments, are hosting and funding America’s 250th anniversary with its annual downtown Independence Day Celebration Friday
It will be July 3.
The events starts at 5 p.m. with a variety of food trucks, special America 250 commemorative merchandise, children’s activities, and photo opportunities.
At 6:30 p.m., the Old Dam Community Band will perform live leading up to the evening’s fireworks display, presented by Henderson Municipal Gas, beginning at approximately 9:15 p.m., said a release from the chamber.
To accommodate the celebration, there will be several downtown street closures. Water Street between First and Second streets and between Third and Fifth streets will close at 8 a.m.
The lower half of Third Street will close at 3:00 p.m. while keeping the Second Street Boat Ramp open, said the release.
The Second Street Boat Ramp may close at 7 p.m. if needed for the fireworks display.
Streets and access points will reopen as soon as it is safe following the event, with most closures reopening between 9:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
