Public Works Director Brian Williams celebrates 25 years of service
The Henderson City Commission honored Public Works Director Brian Williams for his 25 years of service to the city at Tuesday’s meeting. Williams began with the city in 2001 as a crew worker in the Public Works Department. He was promoted to Sanitation superintendent in 2006 and appointed as Public Works director in 2015.
Williams thanked the city and all the past and present Public Works employees. He also thanked his wife for putting up with the countless work phone calls he’s taken in his off time through the years, including on vacations.
He said Public Works goes above and beyond to help residents and has formed partnerships with all the city departments.
“We do the best we can to help anyone who needs help,” Williams said.
HPD hires five officers
The Henderson Police Department welcomed five new officers to the department at Tuesday’s Henderson City Commission meeting.
They are Jacob Nelson, Ron Faulk, Trevon Hocker, Chad Gathings and Kyle Kirk.
HPD Chief Billy Bolin said that with the addition of these five officers, the department is still five officers short of being full capacity. Bolin also said there are officers who are planning to retire later this year, and he expects the department to be at about eight or nine short by the end of the year.
Bolin said it’s a constant struggle to recruit and retain a full staff in the current climate and said if anyone knows someone interested in serving, send them to HPD.
