The Ohio Valley Art league hosts its biggest fundraiser of the year in mid-May.
“Kitchen Tours: A Taste of Spring” will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 16.
During the event, ticket holders drive to five different local homes as well as the OVAL’s home, Gallery 101, to taste the culinary delights cooked up by guest chefs.
The venues include:
- A Jagoe home at 317 Bentley Drive, with guest chef WEHT Eyewitness News meteorologist Joe Bird
- The home of Bill and Peggy Fidler at 6360 U.S. 41-A with guest chef Tacoholics owner Marcos Nicolas
- The home of Brent and Leslie McDaniel at 115 S. Main St. with guest chef Olivia Torain
- The home of Laurie and Jason Willoghby at 4 Colonial Court with guest chef Susannah Dickman, a plant-based chef who owns Evansville business Eat Plants Be Well
- The home of Suzanne Staff at 210 Hancock St. with guest chef Shawna Harrington, who is head chef at Hometown Roots
- Gallery 101 at 101 N. Water St. with guest chefs Tracie Ettensohn and Rohdene Rollins
The event allows people to both see the homes’ kitchens as well as taste a sampling of the food cooked up by the guest chefs, said Tracy Sturgill, the executive director of OVAL.
Sturgill said OVAL hopes to sell 300 tickets. Tickets for OVAL members are $25 and for non-members the cost is $30.
Tickets can be purchased at ohiovalley.art. From there, click on the “Kitchen Tours: A Taste of Spring” advertisement or go to the “Events” tab.
Proceeds from the event go toward OVAL’s general funding, organizational costs, and it helps with salaries, internet bills, marketing and the free programs that OVAL puts on, Sturgill said.
Currently, OVAL is hosting titled “Into the Wild” and created by mother-daughter team, Elizabeth Davis and Lisa Heichelbech of Evansville. It’s at Gallery 101.
OVAL hosts four exhibits each year at Gallery 101, four more at the Dick and Sheila Beaven Gallery at the Henderson County Public Library and one large exhibit each fall at the Preston Arts Center. The large exhibit at the PAC rotates each year—one year OVAL holds the Kentucky National Wildlife Art Exhibit and the next it’s The Art of Recycling.
