United Way of Henderson County is bringing back Now That’s What I Call Pantomime: Pop Icons, a Henderson tradition that UW is reviving after a long absence.
The show includes local business leaders, community members, elected officials and other familiar faces who will get into costume to become some of music’s biggest icons and then entertain by lip-syncing to music and according to a UW release, some “very questionable choreography.”
The show will be 7 p.m. Saturday at the Preston Arts Center. PAC doors open at 6 p.m. Theater doors open at 6:30 p.m. It is presented by Pittsburg Tank & Tower Group.
According to UW, Pantomime first took the stage in November 2001, but the show almost didn’t happen.
Just days after the tragedy of September 11, the United Way team was preparing for their first icebreaker and considered canceling the event. But the performers and community encouraged them to continue, believing a little laughter and togetherness were exactly what people needed, said the UW release. After the first show, the pantomime show happened eight more times, said UW.
This year’s show brings together Pantomime Originals and first-time performers portraying music legends and pop favorites, including Elvis, Prince, Dolly Parton, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and more, said UW.
Every ticket supports United Way of Henderson County and its mission to invest, connect and empower our community through proven programs focused on health, education, financial stability and workforce development, said UW.
Tickets are $30 for general admission and $50 for VIP. The show is intended for ages 18-plus. Tickets are available here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/now-thats-what-i-call-pantomime-pop-icons
