A first-degree wanton endangerment–firearm discharge has been added to the case of a Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

On Monday, Christopher Snow, 56, a deputy who works in court security, was charged with third-degree terroristic threatening because of a threat made against a family member on Sunday, Aug. 16, said Henderson County Sheriff Chip Stauffer.

Snow was initially booked into the Henderson County Detention Center, but was transferred to the Daviess County Detention Center on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the wanton endangerment charge was added.

And on Thursday, Snow appeared in Henderson District Court via Zoom and pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Court documents say that on Sunday Snow’s son, James C. Snow, came to check on the house of his grandmother, Christopher Snow’s mother, who had recently moved to a relative’s house to be taken care of. Christopher Snow’s house is about 580 feet away from his mother’s house on Ky. 1078.

When James Snow arrived, he claims that his father was shooting at him, court documents say.

James Snow “stated that he heard shots and heard bullets ‘zing’ by the area,” said a warrant in the case file.

When a deputy arrived at Christopher Snow’s mother’s house, he spoke with James C. Snow and looked at his truck, searching for damage, and Christopher Snow got in his truck and drove over to the house and onto the driveway at a “very high rate of speed,” said court documents.

The deputy told James Snow to leave and he would contact him later, and then the deputy stayed with Christopher Snow and tried to calm him.

The court document said that Chris Snow stated the following words towards James Snow: “If I go to jail he is going to jail to (sic) because we’re both going to be dead.”

And: “We’ll both go to the morgue.”

A different deputy called Chris Snow as the responding deputy was arriving and asked about the shots fired call that came in; Chris Snow told him he had been target shooting, documents said.

Chris Snow later said, “I was shooting no rifle, I was shooting a .45 pistol.”

Later in the day, James Snow called the deputy and told him he had found a bullet hole in the rear passenger taillight, according to court documents.

Later that same day, sheriff’s office investigators went to the grandmother’s house to investigate.

“They found 2 bullets in the yard and damage to the house,” said court documents.

On Aug. 17, Chris Snow was arrested on an active warrant and had three emergency protective orders served on him.

Investigators found broken fragment of red plastic where James Snow’s pickup truck had been parked and damage to the house that appeared to be caused by bullets, said the court documents.
