Why did you decide to run for re-election?

In my first term I have enjoyed collaborating with the other members of Fiscal Court to get a lot of good things done for our community, and I want to add to that record of accomplishment. Learning the ins and outs of local and state government takes some time, but I feel as though my improved understanding of those processes, limitations and opportunities will make me an even more effective magistrate in a second term in office.

I would be proud to continue working for the people of District 2 on items and issues that will make our district and Henderson County better.

Why do you believe you are the best choice for this seat?

I am a proven leader who makes decisions based on facts and laws all while considering input of constituents.

I am always available and answer the phone.

I already know the statutes and processes that enable me to manage issues effectively.

I do not let emotions affect my decision making, I actively listen and remain respectful even if I disagree with someone.

Nobody will work harder than me to fulfil the duties of this office.

No candidate knows more about the Second District, has lived here longer, understands its people better and works harder to help them than I do. Since I was elected in 2022, Fiscal Court has increased its spending on asphalt and dozens of miles in District 2 have been repaved, including roads that have never had blacktop on them before. The District 2 totals are 28.9 miles total and 2.43 miles rock to asphalt. I have been a part of drafting two successful budgets that finished in the black and improved services for the public without raising county taxes. The 2025-26 budget will do the same. Even though solar panel developments originated before my election, I have made it my priority to keep my constituents informed about their construction. I have been a liaison between local citizens and the solar companies and have done all I can to make certain the contractors understand and follow their responsibilities under the law. I will continue to do that. I am no fan of solar panels or wind turbines, and it would be my preference that their proliferation stops. But I also swore an oath to uphold the law, which promises these projects fair treatment under our planning and zoning ordinances. It is an oath I take very seriously and every candidate for local office should.

What are your top priorities for the next term, if elected?

I will continue to hold existing solar sites (that I inherited) accountable based on the rules and regulations that are in place. and work to mitigate or prevent additional renewable energy projects in Henderson County.

Road Maintenance and ditch work to make day-to-day travel safer.

Work with the fiscal court to reduce the insurance premium tax by 50%.

Work with the Henderson Economic Development team to attract and support new businesses coming to Henderson County.

A final brief statement to support your candidacy.

I was thankful and motivated by the responsibility the voters of District 2 gave me when they elected me as their magistrate. Everything I have done while serving my first term has been to represent them in a positive and impactful way. I have also done my absolute best for the county as a whole and am proud of the success we have had in bringing in more jobs and investment. I ask the voters in the Second District to re-elect me as their magistrate so we can build on that progress and create even more prosperity and enthusiasm for the future.
