Co-owners of Abundantly Well Counseling LLC Jama Phillips and Yvonne Hall say that during their years working together in the school system they always dreamed of opening a business together.
“Over the years, we recognized how naturally well we work together, how closely our values align and how much we share a passion for mental health and serving our community,” Phillips said in a message to the Hendersonian. “We knew we wanted to create something meaningful together—something that extended beyond simply providing counseling services.”
On June 1, their dream was realized.
They want their counseling agency at 101 N. Main St. to be a welcoming, non-judgmental space for those who need mental health help. “…safe, inviting and a little more like home,” Phillips said.
Hall is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master of Social Work. She retired from the Henderson County School system on July 1. She was a social worker at South Heights Elementary School for 18 years, and at the same time, was a per diem social worker at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh for the last 25 years.
Phillips is a licensed clinical social worker. She graduated from Murray State University with a Specialist of Education and Clinical Mental Health Degree. She retired from HCS in July 2023 as the school counselor at South Heights Elementary School, where she worked for 11 years. Prior to that, Phillips was a teacher at Niagara Elementary School for 14 years and at Murray Elementary School for two years.
Both worked at a local counseling agency before deciding to strike out on their own earlier this year. Both say they wanted to “do things our own way.”
They said their mission is to help individuals and families move toward healing, balance and emotional wellness through compassionate counseling and meaningful connection.
“We strive to provide a welcoming space where every client feels supported, encouraged, and empowered to live abundantly and authentically,” they said.
