The Henderson County Sports Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for the 2024 induction class, said a release from its committee.
The deadline to submit new nominees for consideration is April 21.
The Hall of Fame committee encourages additional information on people who have been nominated in the past. Newspaper clippings, scrapbooks and awards are perfect for providing information on a nominee, said the release. Athletes who graduated in 2014 will be eligible for the first time this year.
Criteria for nominees are:
- Those nominated as players should have graduated from Henderson County High School no later than 2014 or from any of the former local city or county high schools.
- If nominated as a player, the nominee should have an exceptional, verifiable record in one or more sports in his or her former high school and/or collegiate or professional career.
- Former coaches in any of the local systems are eligible for nomination, provided they no longer are coaching.
- Also eligible are individuals who have made outstanding contributions as supporters of the athletic programs of Henderson County High or those of former local high schools — or whose efforts have contributed to the success of such programs.
- Teams from 2014 or before are also eligible.
- Nominees should be of good character and should stand as good role models.
Those wishing to submit a nominee can email the information to hcsportshall@gmail.com, mail it to Henderson County Sports Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 242, Henderson, Ky., 42419, or give it to any committee member.
Committee members are Kevin Patton, Vivian Tomblin, Greg Busby, Kenny Davis, Mark Veal, Pascal Benson, Jeff Coursey, James Hickerson, Kevin Ferguson, Kelly O’Nan, Tim Barron, Debbie Pirtle, Steve Tow, Rob Rich, Mary Beth Parker and Wes Alexander.
Write a brief account of what makes your nominee worthy of induction into the Hall of Fame and include as much supporting documentation as possible.
A nomination form and guidelines are available on the Hall of Fame’s website at www.hcsportshall.wordpress.com. A list of past inductees is on the website.
