The Flash currently sits at 13-5 on the season and are just a half game out of first place in the Ohio Valley League.
Henderson Flash 5, Paducah Chiefs 4
June 20—The Flash ended the week on a nine-game winning streak after defeating the Chiefs, 5-4. It was a back-and-forth affair that would not be decided until the eighth inning. Gunnar Waldrop hit a two-run homer in the third and Alec Satterfield drove in a run in the sixth to give Henderson a 3-1 lead. After Paducah tied the game twice in the seventh and eighth, Tyler Rinehart put the nail in the coffin with a solo shot in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win.
Rinehart finished 3-for-4. Waldrop went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Riken Burkett threw four innings, allowing one earned run to start the game. Egan Prather tossed two scoreless innings in relief, striking out five. Jacob Froehlich pitched a scoreless inning. Zach Mason got the win, throwing 1.2 innings, while allowing no runs and striking out three.
Henderson Flash 5, Madisonville Miners 2
June 19—Another come-from-behind win gave the Flash its eighth win in a row. The Miners opened up a 2-0 lead in the second before both teams went scoreless for the next three innings. Henderson would score the final five runs, all on home runs. Clark Gries launched a two-run long ball in the top of the sixth. Peyton Tatum added a solo dinger in the seventh. Tyler Rinehart ended the scoring with a two-run homer in the eighth.
Gries was 2-for-3 with the home run and two RBI. Jacob Froehlich added two hits, a walk, and a run. Reed Rheinhardt was the starting pitcher, throwing five innings of two-run ball with four strikeouts. Ashton Tindle earned the win in relief, striking out six over four scoreless innings.
Henderson Flash 7, Full Count Rhythm 6
June 17—It took an amazing comeback effort from the Flash to beat the Rhythm on Wednesday night. After scoring the game’s first run, Henderson fell behind 6-1 after the top of the fifth inning. Mason Lester ignited the comeback with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth. The lead diminished further in the sixth when Robert Hicks scored on a groundout by Bryce Hayden. The Flash finally grabbed the lead in the eighth. Peyton Tatum scored on a single by Travis Combs. Gunnar Waldrop delivered the dagger with a two-run single to center field, scoring Alec Satterfield and Tyler Rinehart to cement the final score at 7-6. It was Henderson’s seventh consecutive win.
Lester went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Waldrop also posted two RBI. Hicks, Hayden, and Keegan Gulley each collected an RBI as well. Clark Gries started the game and allowed six runs over 4.2 innings. Palmer Schiff picked up the win tossing 4.1 scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.
Henderson Flash 11, Hoptown Hoppers 1
June 16—Henderson picked up its sixth straight win with a seven-inning, 11-1 victory over Hoptown. The Flash opened up a four-run lead after three innings. Clark Gries hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. In the sixth, Gunnar Waldrop scored on a sacrifice fly by Dom Davis. After that, Peyton Tatum stole home and Brayden Mineo came home to score on a single by Jacob Froehlich. A run in the bottom of the seventh would bring the game to an early end.
Tatum finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs. Davis posted a similar 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs. Gries hit the game’s only homer and collected three RBI. Mason Bratcher was the winning pitcher allowing no earned runs, while striking out 11 over 6.1 innings.
Henderson Flash 10, Madisonville Miners 2
June 15—The Flash started its week with a huge win over the Madisonville Miners at historic Bosse Field. Gunnar Waldrop started the scoring in the first when he singled, stole second and third, then scored on an error by the catcher. Dom Davis then chased Brayden Mineo home with a triple before coming home on a single by Tyler Rinehart to make the score 3-0. After scoring a run each in the third and fifth innings, the Flash plated four more in the sixth. Rinehart scored on a bases-loaded walk to Mason Lester. Palmer Schiff scored on a wild pitch. Then, Mineo hit a groundball which was misplayed by the Miners, allowing Cooper Vowels and Lester to score. One more run in the eighth gave the Flash a 10-2 win, its fifth in a row.
Waldrop was 3-for-4 and scored three runs. Davis was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Mineo collected two RBI. Payton Helmerich allowed one run over five innings to earn the win. Seth Galloway picked up the save, giving up one run over the final four innings.
