On Oct. 30, 2021–after years of planning, fundraising and construction–the Homeplace of Henderson opened, welcoming its first seven residents.
On Friday, Homeplace celebrated its fifth anniversary.
Jessica Beaven and husband Patrick are co-founders of the facility on Green River Road. Jessica, the executive director, said the work is a “labor of love.” In the first five years, there have been many sleepless nights, a lot of tears and self-scrutiny over the decisions they have made running the business, she said.
In the middle of those first five years, Jessica lost her father, Brian Pritchett, unexpectedly, when he passed in early October 2025. And that added to the difficulties of running the young business.
Still, they pressed on.
As hard as it’s been, Jessica said, she and Patrick tell themselves they would have pursued this dream just the same.
“Our goal was to create a place people wanted to go to,” Jessica said.
Now, on the Homeplace of Henderson’s fifth anniversary, there are 62 residents at the Green River Road facility. Also, in the first five years, the Homeplace team bought facilities formerly owned by Colonial Assisted Living, and now the Homeplace of Henderson at Adams Lane has 51 residents living there, Jessica said.
“It’s a passion,” Jessica said. “It’s a calling. We work with a great group of individuals.”
She also said she and Patrick, the operations manager, along with the Homeplace staff are constantly brainstorming new ideas and programs to bring to Homeplace. They want to continue to bring excitement to the industry, she said.
Homeplace residents and staff have been celebrating daily in the lead-up to the fifth anniversary. Recently, a small ceremony was held to recognize Homeplace’s initial 12 investors and those employees who have been with the business since day one. Jessica said there are five employees, aside from she and Patrick, who have worked there since opening day in October 2021.
