Following a recent inspection, engineers with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet placed a 10-ton weight limit on the US 60 bridge at the Henderson-Union County line on Wednesday, according to a release from the cabinet.
Built in 1943 over Highland Creek, the 81-year-old bridge carries around 6,000 vehicles through the US 60 corridor between the two counties each day, said the release.
KYTC said the new 10-ton limit will not affect normal passenger vehicles, and heavier vehicles will need to find a new route. There will be no marked detour, the release said.
