Jada Hamby hired as chamber’s event coordinator

Jada Hamby has been hired as the Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s event coordinator.

Her job starts Sept. 3.

Hamby, a Henderson native and student at the University of Southern Indiana, has previously worked with Terror on the Trail, Hometown Roots and First Christian Church, said a release from the chamber.

“I am thrilled to join the Henderson Chamber of Commerce and contribute to the positive impact it continues to have on our community,” Hamby said in the release. “I look forward to collaborating with local businesses and residents to drive growth and strengthen our community.”

Hamby will be responsible for planning and executing Downtown Henderson Partnership and Chamber of Commerce events, coordinating with vendors and partners and delivering value for members, said the release.

“We are delighted to welcome Jada as our new event coordinator,” Chamber President Clay Gillham said. “Her diverse experience and deep ties to our community make her an excellent fit for this role. We are confident that Jada’s enthusiasm and skillset will infuse new energy into our efforts to support local businesses and foster a vibrant community.”

In addition to Gillham, Hamby will join Donna Warren and Madison Krampe on the chamber’s staff.

Overdose Awareness Block Party Saturday, senior giveaway Thursday

Local organizations will mark Saturday’s International Overdose Awareness Day with an Overdose Awareness Block Party in Central Park.

The festival will be 4-7 p.m. It is sponsored by the Women’s Addiction Recovery Manor.

Speakers at the festival will talk about their recovery stories, said Carrie Gentry, the Community Addiction Awareness Director for the Stop The Overdose Project and the manager for the Recovery Resource Club of Henderson.

The party will also feature singer Matt Keegan who sings about addiction, and during Keegan’s breaks, a deejay will play, Gentry said.

There will also be a number of food trucks and vendors at the party as well as community resources set up so that attendees can find help, Gentry said.

She also said that a foam party will be held for children.
