A man died as he was driving his truck before a Monday afternoon wreck near the intersection of Zion Road and Garden Mile Road.
James Swanson, 70, died from natural causes as he was driving his vehicle, which led to the wreck, according to the Henderson County Coroner’s Office.
The Henderson Police Department said the crash occurred when Swanson’s full-size truck traveling eastbound on Zion crossed into the westbound lane and struck a passenger car head-on.
An HPD release said the truck continued into a yard and onto a driveway, damaging three parked cars there. Police were called at about 3:40 p.m. and upon arrival found Swanson unconscious.
CPR was performed on him, and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment, said police. He was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Two occupants in the passenger car were injured.
Henderson Fire Department crews used specialty equipment to extract the driver of the passenger car, said police. Both occupants of the car were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The roadway was closed in each direction for about 3 ½ hours while the crash was investigated.
