Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program food voucher cards available June 17

Seniors who want to obtain a Senior Farmers Market food voucher card should come to the Henderson County Education and Expo Center on June 17.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture website, the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is designed to provide low-income seniors with access to locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey and herbs.

The expo center is located behind the Henderson County Extension Office at 3099 Zion Road. The sign-up will run from 9 a.m.-noon or until vouchers are gone.

Participants should be a state-issued identification card, and their income level must be 185% of the federal poverty level or less.

Section of Green Street closed Thursday

Both southbound lanes of Green Street between Dixon and Jefferson streets will be closed on Thursday, according to a city release.

The closure will be in place to pave a patch of road where a recent water main break repair occurred, said the release.

The section of road will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., said the release

Officials say that during the closure southbound traffic will be diverted to the inside northbound lane of Green Street and northbound traffic will be reduced to the outside northbound lane.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible and should expect traffic delays in the area, said the release.

Corydon will use grant for work at Crawford Park

As part of the 2026 Crumb Rubber/Tire-Derived Products Grant program that is administered by the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, the city of Corydon has received a grant for work to be done at Crawford Park, according to a release from the city of Corydon.

It was awarded $9,128 to purchase and install one park bench in the playground’s baby swing area and nine picnic tables, including one wheelchair-accessible table, in the shelters and pavilion areas at Crawford Park, said the release.

The new picnic tables and bench will be constructed using approximately 1.1 tons of crumb rubber derived from waste tires generated in Kentucky, said the release. This project reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship and enhancing community spaces through innovative and responsible practices, according to the release.

“Receiving this grant is an exciting opportunity for our community,” said Mayor Ronda Moore Smith. “These improvements will create welcoming and accessible spaces for families, seniors, and visitors, while also demonstrating our dedication to environmentally responsible solutions.”

The upgraded seating will replace aging benches and tables and provide durable, low maintenance amenities designed to serve the community for years to come, said the release.

HCC is accepting applications for free, six-week MAINTech program

Henderson Community College is now accepting registrations for its MAINTech program, a free, six-week workforce training boot camp designed to prepare participants for careers in manufacturing and industrial settings. Classes begin June 15.

MAINTech, which stands for Multi-skilled Advanced Industrial Maintenance Training, is a hands-on, non-credit program that combines classroom instruction, technical training and career exploration to help participants build foundational skills for today’s workforce, said HCC.

The program is offered at no cost to eligible participants and is designed for individuals seeking career advancement, recent high school graduates and those interested in entering the manufacturing field.

Through MAINTech, students gain an OSHA 10 certification, practical experience in workplace safety, lean operations, problem-solving and the use of general hand and power tools. The curriculum also emphasizes workplace principles such as teamwork, communication, accountability and professionalism.

“MAINTech is about creating opportunity and awareness for students, adult workers and learners, and local industries,” said Workforce Solutions Coordinator Tiffany Jackson. “We want people to see that there are real options for them to create meaningful careers right here in our region. Henderson Community College is committed to helping build those connections and supporting students as they work toward their goals in the most affordable and accessible way possible.”

Seats for the June 15 cohort are limited and filling quickly. Individuals interested in participating can register online using the MAINTech Registration Form.
