Section of Green Street closed Thursday
Both southbound lanes of Green Street between Dixon and Jefferson streets will be closed on Thursday, according to a city release.
The closure will be in place to pave a patch of road where a recent water main break repair occurred, said the release.
The section of road will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., said the release
Officials say that during the closure southbound traffic will be diverted to the inside northbound lane of Green Street and northbound traffic will be reduced to the outside northbound lane.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible and should expect traffic delays in the area, said the release.
Corydon will use grant for work at Crawford Park
As part of the 2026 Crumb Rubber/Tire-Derived Products Grant program that is administered by the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, the city of Corydon has received a grant for work to be done at Crawford Park, according to a release from the city of Corydon.
It was awarded $9,128 to purchase and install one park bench in the playground’s baby swing area and nine picnic tables, including one wheelchair-accessible table, in the shelters and pavilion areas at Crawford Park, said the release.
The new picnic tables and bench will be constructed using approximately 1.1 tons of crumb rubber derived from waste tires generated in Kentucky, said the release. This project reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship and enhancing community spaces through innovative and responsible practices, according to the release.
“Receiving this grant is an exciting opportunity for our community,” said Mayor Ronda Moore Smith. “These improvements will create welcoming and accessible spaces for families, seniors, and visitors, while also demonstrating our dedication to environmentally responsible solutions.”
The upgraded seating will replace aging benches and tables and provide durable, low maintenance amenities designed to serve the community for years to come, said the release.
