Fall abounds with seasonal experiences, and it’s easy to get that cozy feeling with a day trip or weekend outing to visit a farm.
Here are some options in our own backyard or nearby.
Cates Farm Corn Maze &
Produce
For the 20th season, Cates Farm Corn Maze & Produce will offer up its 12-acre corn maze, a chance to select the perfect orange orb from the pumpkin patch, a ride on a hay wagon and, in some cases, an opportunity to experience a farm setting for the very first time.
On Fridays, Saturday and Sunday starting Sept. 12 and running through Nov. 1, Cates Farm (located at 8132 Pruitt Agnew Road in Henderson County) will be hosting school groups from Kentucky and Indiana, company parties, church groups and family gatherings.
Hours are Friday from 4-8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday from noon-7 p.m.
In addition to the corn maze and pumpkin patch, there’s typically a straw maze, a giant chess set, cornhole, a jump pad, a weather-dependent bonfire and other games, but details are still being finalized for the 2026 season as the farm transitions from produce farming and Farmers Market visits to fall. Trunnell’s Market & Farm Experience
At Utica in rural Daviess County, this agritourism business offers Fall Farm Experience from Aug. 29 through Nov. 1
Fall Flower Festival runs from Aug. 29-Sept. 18. Hop on a wagon ride to explore more than a million sunflowers and zinnia varieties.
Pumpkin Season runs from Sept. 19-Nov. 1 and offers a U-Pick Pumpkin Village, fall treats and an animal barnyard.
Other activities include a giant slide, geode cracking, zip lines, duck races, a jumping pillow, an apple cannon and more.

Mayse Farm Market
Fall Family Fun On The Farm will take place every weekend from Sept. 19-Nov. 1 at this farm located at 6400 N. St. Joseph Ave. in Evansville.
In addition to the u-pick pumpkin patch and wagon rides, admission includes farm yard games, corn hole, a sand pit, hillbilly hoops, a corn tunnel, animals, duck races, a corn field slide and more.
During the week of Oct. 12-16, the farm is open every day.

Jackson’s Orchard
A little farther afield at this orchard in Bowling Green, Jackson’s has its Pumpkin Festival Weekends beginning Sept. 26-27 and running through the last weekend in October.
They have wagon rides to the pumpkin patch and corn maze, pick-your-own pumpkins, pick-your-own apples, petting zoo, pony rides, The Goat Ranch and The Cider Slider.
And don’t forget the caramel apples.

Huber’s Family Farm Park
In southern Indiana near Louisville, this year-round attraction takes on the colors and feel of fall in September and October.
At 2421 Engle Road in Starlight, Ind., the farm offers kids a chance to enjoy being kids and allows adults a chance to take a trip down memory lane. Get lost in mazes, catch a farm tour on the grain train, race pedal karts around the 1,000-foot track, swish down the mountain slide, mine for gems and more.
