Meryl Grogan has gotten off to a terrific start in her senior year, winning several tournaments. She won the West Kentucky Invitational, posting her fifth straight round under par. At the beginning of August, she shot a 68 to win the Paducah Tilghman Invitational. At the tournament, she was also the coaches’ choice for the Chris Bell Award, given to the athlete who best demonstrated the following qualities: dedication, integrity and perseverance among others. Earlier this season, she won the Franklin-Simpson Battle at the Creek Invitational shooting an impressive 6-under 66 for a two-shot victory, nearly matching her record round of 64 from last year.
Grogan spoke about her great start: “It is so rewarding watching all of my hard work of practicing pay off in competition. Every season I have improved. This year has been beyond my expectations so far and I hope to keep that going through the postseason.”
