(This article highlighting a Henderson County High School graduate is one of five included in the June graduation edition of the Hendersonian.)

As the graduating senior who best displays the attributes of a confident, committed and caring Colonel—as voted on by her peers—Aubrie Woolfork was the White Robe recipient and wore that honored vestment at graduation.

And she said she was the only female out of seven seniors who was a finalist for the White Robe, and that added an extra sweet dimension to her winning, which she explained because she’s funny, has a great laugh, and probably most important, “I care about people.”

Her activities and honors entail a long list. Here are some: four years on the Honor Roll, CTE Hall of Fame, Health Sciences student of the year, member of HCHS swim team and a relay participant that was regional runner-up and state qualifier, a winner of several scholarships and prom queen.

What Aubrie loved about HCHS were the teachers in her health services pathway, whom she said were very passionate about their work and their students. That was evident by her relationship with Cynthia Nunn, who taught her for three years—sophomore, junior, senior year.

“I consider her another mom to me,” she said. “She really guided me through my high school career.”

With the health services background, Aubrie plans to attend the University of Louisville next school year. She is going to major in experimental psychology in preparation for a future career as a forensic psychiatrist, which will require her to go to medical school. She also plans to go to U of L for med school.

Aubrie is also a part of the inaugural class of Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center students, starting there in pre-K and finishing years later at Henderson County High School. She said her teacher from way back then still remembers her.

Aubrie played varsity basketball as a freshman, but because of different circumstances, she decided to try something new as a sophomore and joined the swim team. She said it was different going from a team game to more of an individual sport. That led to qualifying for state in the 200 freestyle relay.

She said she enjoyed the change and encouraged others coming behind her to “take a chance to change” if the opportunity presents itself during the four years of high school.
