The Henderson Breakfast Lions handed out checks that totaled $25,500 to local nonprofits Monday night.

The funding came from the profit that the Breakfast Lions made from this spring’s Tri-Fest.

The organization also gave out two $500 scholarships to recent Henderson County High School graduates. They were Cadyn Conrad and Taylor Womack.

It’s the 37th year that the Breakfast Lions have been doing this. In those years, the group has warded more than $900,000 to local organizations, said Lion James Peden on Monday night.

This year’s recipients are:

  • College Foundation, $250 for supplies for outreach program and open house sessions
  • Volunteer Information Center, $2,000 to provide back-to-school clothing with assistance of matching funds from Stock Yards bank cards
  • Riverview School, $1,500 to update classroom walls/baseboard paint
  • Elevate, $2,000 to purchase bedding, dinnerware, silverware, towels for new apartments
  • The Gathering Place, $500 for treadmill and therapeutic massage recliner
  • Father Bradley Shelter for Women and Children, $2,500 to support its emergency housing stabilization program
  • Chloe Randolph Organization, $2,500 to subsidize teen dating program offered to HCHS freshmen
  • Henderson KY Education Foundation, $4,000 to fund teachers and school personnel projects not covered by schools
  • Matthew 25 AIDS Services, $500 for supplies for food pantry
  • Healing Reins of Kentucky, $1,000 to supplement the cost of 30 participants for a 10-week adaptive horsemanship session
  • Henderson Christian Community Outreach, $1,000 for its community care program
  • Henderson Area Arts Alliance, $3,000 for sponsorship
  • Holy Name School, $800 for portable sound systems
  • Corydon Civil Defense Fire & Rescue, $1,000 for firefighter PPE
  • Cairo Volunteer Fire Department, $1,000 to provide fire prevention materials to Cairo Elementary School students
