Core Chiropractic is in the hands of new ownership.
Meric-Dean Stinson has bought the local business. Stinson recently graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in April, and after a recent three-month preceptorship at Core’s Evansville location (which is run by Henderson native Dr. Tanner Wedding and his wife, Dr. Heather Wedding), he said he sat down with them and was asked where he wanted to be in five years. Soon the talk moved later to an offer to buy the Henderson office.
Stinson had always wanted to move back to Henderson and own his own practice, but this occurred more quickly than he had planned.
“I never thought this would happen,” he said.
In fact, Stinson, 25, said taking over the ownership was “terrifying” and added “it still is” and “the scariest thing to happen to me since my daughter was born.”
Stinson is married to Henderson native Kamri, and they have a 10-month-old daughter, Cova. He and Kamri met at Henderson County High School and have been together since their junior year in high school.
Before coming back to Henderson, Stinson interned at a chiropractic office in St. Louis. He said there are noticeable differences between here and there. In St. Louis, he said the clients treated a visit to the chiropractors as a luxury and prices were “super high” even for adjustments, he said.
In Henderson, he said he’s able to offer more personalized service, “which I like.”
Stinson, who focuses on musculo-skeletal treatment, said he sees a lot of coal miners, laborers and student athletes, which is familiar territory for him as he played football for HCHS several years back. Stinson said he also helps a lot of people who have migraines, many from staring at screens all day.
The ages he treats range from one week old all the way up to a 94-year-old, he said.
Though Stinson is the owner of the practice, the lead chiropractor is Dr. Jesse Gillham, whom Stinson said is providing mentorship to the younger doctor.
“I’m learning more from him than anybody,” Stinson said.
