HWU employee honored with Community Spotlight
The City of Henderson recognized a Henderson Water Utility employee on Tuesday with August’s Community Spotlight.
On July 20, HWU employee John Courtney found a member of a contracted landscaping crew lying on the ground behind HWU’s south water treatment plant. He had apparently succumbed to the heat that day, according to a resolution read in Tuesday’s Henderson City Commission meeting. Courtney provided first aid, gave him water and kept him alert until EMS could arrive.
Ky. Colonels to conduct a day of service in Oct.
The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels will conduct a Day of Service in October at sites across Kentucky, including one in Henderson.
Ten volunteers are being sought to do landscaping and provide general indoor and outdoor cleaning at Henderson Christian Community Outreach at 509 Fifth St.
The work will take place 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 10.
