The identity of a deceased man found on the banks of the Ohio River Monday morning has still not been released.
A representative with the Henderson County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday afternoon that officials are still attempting to reach the man’s family members, and the man’s name cannot be released.
The coroner’s office representative said an autopsy was performed Tuesday morning at the medical examiner’s officer in Louisville. She said it could take six weeks to get results back.
Henderson Police Department officers arrived Monday morning to an unresponsive man lying on the Ohio River beach area below the area of the Water Street tennis courts, said Sgt. Bill Russell, the public information officer for the department.
Russell said people in the area of the tennis courts had seen the body and yelled, but that there was no response.
When police responded at about 10:46 a.m., officers attempted to reach the man by land but couldn’t navigate through the terrain, so the Henderson Fire Department was called and launched its rescue boat, Russell said.
Upon reaching the man, HFD determined he was deceased, Russell said.
