A family-friendly scavenger hunt created by the author of the recently released Christmas book “The Magic of Merryfin Sparkshoe” will take place in downtown Henderson on Saturday, October. 17.

Local author Rob Smith said The Depot Welcome Center at 101 N. Water St. will serve as the starting point, but at least 10 businesses will be participating as scavenger hunt locations.

The scavenger hunt, called “Merryfin’s Scary Spin,” will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Before starting the hunt, participants must complete the official entry form and acknowledge the event rules, safety information and disclaimer.

There is no entry fee and the scavenger hunt winner will receive a signed copy of “The Magic of Merryfin Sparkshoe “along with a $25 Henderson Chamber of Commerce gift certificate.

Families will follow the scavenger hunt through downtown, finding the Merryfin’s Scary Spin™ displays and collecting the clues along the way.

Find the entry form and other information at: https://www.robsmithwrites.com/merryfins-scary-spin-rules-and-disclaimer.

“The Magic of Merryfin Sparkshoe” is Smith’s first book in The North Peak Adventures Series. In it the author has created a community inhabited with elves that are “big, small, short, tall, gift-smiths, cooks, map-makers, sweater-knitters and reindeer groomers,” just to name a few of their attributes and responsibilities.

The message of his tale resonates with hope and the spirit of community, where each elf uses his or her strengths and talents to get things done and solve problems.

The first book was released Sept. 1, and the second book is set for September 2027.

The 76-page chapter book is intended for 6 through 10-year-olds and is available in both printed and eBook version through Amazon.com.
